The classroom reading endorsement (P-12) online program is designed for certified Kentucky teachers who want to boost their specialized expertise or credentials and work toward a master’s degree or Rank I.
The Classroom Reading Endorsement focuses on effective reading and writing instruction, and better understanding of working with P-12 students of varying abilities. By delivering an enriched approach to literacy, this program prepares you to create learning opportunities in your classroom that empower students to tackle and overcome the challenges of reading and writing in our modern society.

Admission Requirements
- A completed graduate application;
- Application fee of $65
- Official transcript(s) for all previous post-secondary coursework. All transcripts not in English must be certified by an official agency as authentic and translated verbatim into English.
- Bachelor's degree earned from an accredited institution*
- Valid Kentucky initial teaching certification or statement of eligibility for candidates outside Kentucky
- Minimum 2.75 cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) on 4.0 scale; minimum 3.0 GPA for graduate work

Out-of-State Applicants
Certified teachers outside Kentucky should be advised that we cannot guarantee the program will meet licensure, salary, advancement or other requirements in their state. As part of the admission process, we require a written statement confirming their interest in the program for personal development and that they understand the program is designed to meet Kentucky certification requirements only. Endorsement Requirements
The online classroom reading endorsement is a 15-credit-hour program that can be completed over a year’s progression with two courses taken in the fall semester, two in the spring semester and one over the summer term [subject to course availability].
The five required courses are listed below. Courses are taught 100% online. Some courses may be asynchronous, others synchronous with specified dates and times. Synchronous courses begin at 4:30p.m. Eastern Time or later.
