Tamer Mosa is a high school science teacher (Physics) in Jefferson County Public schools (Eastern HS). In 2025, Tamer worked in Dr. Masters, Jeffery's lab. In 2025 he plans to do Project Based Learning with an environmental justice focus.
Joseph "Ned" Kelly
Joseph "Ned" Kelly is a chemistry teacher in Jefferson County Public Schools (Waggener High School). In the summer of 2025, Ned worked with Dr. Alycia Lackey and her graduate students on the effects of heat waves on salamander growth and development. After his experience doing the BIO-RET program, Ned is excited to implement an environmental justice unit into his chemistry classes centered around issues in Louisville.
Aneela Raza
Aneela Raza is a science teacher in Jefferson County Public Schools (Seneca High School). During the summer of 2025 she studied the effect of pollution on genotoxicity in birds due to urban environment in Dr. Abolins-Abols; Lab. Aneela asires to integrate authentic research like my work on the effects of urban pollution on genotoxicity in birds into the classroom. She wants to inspire students to see the relevance of science in real-world environmental issues and empower them to think critically and act responsibly as future scientists and citizens.
Rawan Saleh
Rawan Saleh a biology teacher in Jefferson County Public Schools (Seneca High School). This summer she worked with Dr.Ablins-Abols conducting research in the Birds Lab on DNA damage in birds from urban and rural environments. Through this experience, she gained valuable skills in molecular biology and data analysis, while deepening her passion for authentic science education. As an educator committed to equity, Rawan aims to increase diversity in science by encouraging students from all backgrounds to see themselves as scientists. She looks forward to bringing hands-on research experiences into her classroom next school year to spark curiosity and expand student participation in STEM education.
Clarissa Bryant
Clarissa Bryant is a biology teacher at Waggener High School in Jefferson County Public Schools. This is her third RET experience with the University of Louisville, her alma mater. In 2025, Clarissa worked with Perri Eason surveying urban and rural butterfly species. Moving forward, Clarissa plans to incorporate class speaking events with local environmental justice experts into Waggener Biology's existing curriculum and finally begin propagating insect colonies and plant greenhouse for additional student study and hands-on experiences.
Anna (Dani) Gleason
Anna (Dani) Gleason is a high school teacher (Biology and Forensics) in Jefferson County Public Schools (Waggener HS). In 2025, Anna worked with Dr. Eason at the University of Louisville, doing research on butterfly species richness in rural versus urban spaces. In the next school year, Anna plans on incorporating her research experience methods into her classroom as well as revamping her Environmental Justice Project.
Malachi Gorga
Malachi Gorga is a high school science teacher (Biology) in Jefferson County Public Schools. In 2025, Malachi worked in Dr. Alycia Lackey's lab researching how global warming and heat waves affect salamander growth and development. He hopes to bring his research knowledge to improve his students' labs and encourage his students to get into science.
Callie Miller
Callie Miller is a high school biology and environmental science teacher in Jefferson County Public Schools (Marion C. Moore High School). Callie worked with mentor Dr. Jeffrey Masters on his soil microbe diversity research. Her aspirations for next school year are to use many of the resources and labs to revamp her Environment Science curriculum.
