Dean Tabitha Grier-Reed
Tabitha Grier-Reed, Ph.D., L.P. is Dean and Professor in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Louisville. A licensed psychologist and seasoned academic leader, she oversees a complex, multidisciplinary college encompassing multiple academic departments, research centers, and professional programs. Her leadership portfolio includes strategic planning, faculty recruitment and advancement, enrollment growth, legislative engagement, and advancement, as well as the cultivation of inclusive and mission-driven academic culture.
Prior to joining the University of Louisville, Dr. Grier-Reed spent nearly two decades at the University of Minnesota, where she served as Associate Dean for Graduate Education and Faculty Development and Professor in the College of Education and Human Development. At Minnesota, she played a central role in faculty governance, promotion and tenure policy, graduate education collective bargaining, and co-chaired the President’s Initiative for Student Mental Health. She has also served as President of the Minnesota Psychological Association.
A nationally recognized scholar, Dr. Grier-Reed’s research centers on cultural health, racialized labor, racial trauma, identity development, and culturally responsive interventions for students and communities marginalized in higher education. Her work appears in leading peer-reviewed journals. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Division 17: Society of Counseling Psychology) and has received multiple honors for excellence in teaching, mentoring, scholarship, and leadership.
Dr. Grier-Reed’s work is guided by a commitment to community engagement, and the belief that higher education is critical in advancing individual and collective well-being.
