To Apply

Students wishing to apply for this scholarship must submit an application by March 1st. A complete Mentoring Tomorrow’s Rising Professionals (MTRP) scholarship application includes:

  • Application Form
  • Student Involvement Résumé
  • One essay (700–1,000 words) addressing one of the prompts below:

Essay Prompts

  • The Mentoring Tomorrow’s Rising Professionals (MTRP) Program is committed to addressing the critical shortage of highly qualified teachers prepared to serve Kentucky’s P–12 schools. What are the potential impacts on students and communities if this shortage is not addressed?
  • If you were given the opportunity to design a project aimed at strengthening the teacher pipeline, how would you encourage more individuals to enter the field of education? Why is this meaningful to you?

Scholarship Recipient Agreement

Students who receive the MTRP scholarship are to sign a Scholarship Recipient Agreement which outlines certain requirements needed to maintain eligibility and continuously benefit from the scholarship. The agreement reads as follows:

As a recipient of a scholarship from the Multicultural Teacher Recruitment Program, I agree to meet the terms below:

  1. Maintain the required GPA (2.75).
  2. Maintain full-time or part-time enrollment at the University of Louisville.
  3. Attend 3 MTRP professional developments per semester.
  4. Attend monthly one-on-one appointment.
  5. Attend at least 1 recruitment event per semester.
  6. Must be pursuing an initial teacher certification.

I understand that failure to meet the terms above may result in the loss of my scholarship.
